Lua is magic

Hey guys, I just thought I'd make a list of what Lua is capable of according to people here. I looked at the topic irons made that is pinned in this forum, but there seems to be a few things missing. I haven't tested these things myself, but the people that mentioned these functions sounded pretty sure of themselves. I can only assume they know what they're talking about.

1. spwaning form the rocky thing that spawns lost souls - DeepThought
2. build a little village (uber lua) - xyfbzi
3. use multiple sequences for firing - samus
4. allow having a fist and shotgun out at the same time - zott
5. floor denting - xyfbzi
6. make certain polygons icy - xyfbzi
7. make bosses do cool stuff like flooding - xyfbzi
8. dual wield 2 smgs - pfhortipfy
9. create audience noises - JC
10. people in game can see who's waiting on mariusnet - megabyte

I know there's got to be more out there, but I haven't had time to search through all of the pfhorums. I'll try to keep this list up to date as people list new ideas.

Not sure why you need lua for this, except maybe trying to make monster waypoints.

I think I was in-querying if it were possible. I think I received doubtful reports.

Already proven and done, look around on the Pfhorums for it.

You could probably get Lua to randomly generate sound "c:/XY" every Z seconds at polygons XYZ. But you'd have to look into it.

This would take far more than lua as you'd have to access network data, which I don't believe the Marathon Lua is capable of.

I'm aware that floor denting has already been done. That's why it's on the list!

I'm going to change my answer since on the thread I seemed to be a little too facetious, and I clearly did not have the answers when responding.

The Marathon Wiki thing here seems to say you can't.

Plus, I looked around the LUA guide and can only seem to see things about forcing a switch to a weapon, but nothing that does that per arm.


What you MIGHT be able to do is replace the projectiles of the second weapon and replace it with the one you want, but it is unlikely this would look, and act as you would like it to.
