I like it a lot. In particular, the third eye is positioned and structured in a way that makes it seem useful. Too often an alien third eye looks like an inert dot on a regular human forehead. The wrinkles, the hairs, the papillae, it all fits logically without straying too far from the original. I think it would look great if it were eventually realized in 3D using Zbrush or a similar program.sgraff wrote:Testing out posting here for once.

So basically I did a redesign of the Pfhor face without a mask (sorry no scans yet) which was mildly based on the tiny picture of Admiral T'fear. This resulted in a less bug-eyed pfhor with a more sophisticated and intelligent appearance. So now the basic armor design of the trooper does not fit aesthetically. Because I not only want to please myself but also other fans of Marathon, I am curious how much I should change their armor. It will stay light in comparison to what the Trooper would wear. I am also interested in what kind of impression the Pfhor appearance gave you. If they were tribal in design for example. If so, if they should have markings based on their religion. I probably will open my own thread when I have enough drawn or if it best to move this discussion elsewhere.
True I might be overanalysing how they look, but I wouldn't have fun with fanart if I couldn't be creative with it.

I would like to see him wearing something like the thing Tfear was wearing in the BBD snapshot, like an alien curiass.

Why not? An alien suit of armor that looks to contain something of the curiass ilk?

cool idea. you can always customize the armor aswell.
What are you, if not seven different shades of stupid?
I do plan on giving them some form of armor just like how the original designs did as well. My designs might be based on the originals but very loosely. I cannot however make the design very elaborate and since they are lower class. Powerful pfhor such as T'fear needs a way to stand out. I suppose the cape and helmet helps with that but I digress. I might make several armor designs, right now I am looking possible influences. It is good to keep in mind to have the style similar with Pfhor architecture and other beings in the race such as hunter and enforcers. I think however I should design a pfhor equivalent to the marine someday.
If I am not mistaken, Pfhor have a class system in their society and they have a religion that Durandal describes as pathetically boring. Do we know anything else about pfhor culture and society from the games?

Nobody is absolutely sure yet (see "The Pfhor" on MSP) whether the Pfhor Hunter is actually an upgraded living creature or a robot.sgraff wrote:other beings in the race such as hunters
Again, see the MSP. There's some good stuff in "The Pfhor", as is there in Rubicon.sgraff wrote:If I am not mistaken, Pfhor have a class system in their society and they have a religion that Durandal describes as pathetically boring. I will check out the MSP then, thanks.
I was playing around with some designs last night.

I found the head of that spht a wee bit amusing, but as for the head, yeah it looks alright

What are you, if not seven different shades of stupid?
The top part of the spht head is directly influenced by the glass dome/head they had in the original game. The neck however I extended and included optical viewers for them which can move back and forth horizontally along the indentations. The arching and extended appearance is a little bit of a reference to their architecture seen on their planet. The pfhor however took a bit of thinking since there is no real clear imagery of what they look without their masks. In the games however there were some terminals showing small images of what they look like. One of a dead pfhor and one of general T'fear. Both appeared to have very human-like mouths and a slight to no nose. I adapted these to what I drew above. The overall shape of the head is different and in my opinion gives a more impression that this is an intelligent being. From the profile however, the head will appear more sloped and extended in the more classic pfhor fashion, along with his control gland.
I would like to try drawing a full pfhor next time, designing a new yet familiar armor for them.

they seem to have no lips and sharp teeth aswell
and you seem to have thought through the spht head here aswell, are you going to add a glass dome aorund it?

If you mean by the pfhor, it does have lips technically but they do not push out like that of a human. They however do hide their teeth which I have not decided what they would look like. Sharp teeth are a bit cliche with aliens and I feel as if I should stray away with that idea. Their teeth might be somewhat similar to that of a human. Hard to say.Swe Mussolini wrote:they seem to have no lips and sharp teeth aswell
I might design several spht armor designs. This one however does not have a dome as seen in M2 and infinity. I was going for a more "enlightened" appearance, almost like that of a monk. I always got that impression more with their original design from M1, a transition which was lost when they were brought to M2. The dome however would fit on a spht that is more battle oriented. I will read up more on the spht, but if I am not wrong, there are several clans. I think that these clans can have different appearances with their armors.Swe Mussolini wrote:and you seem to have thought through the spht head here aswell, are you going to add a glass dome aorund it?
regardign the teeth, they dont have to be sharp but somewhat pointy, badly shown here http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/aliens/i.../Pfhor_Oops.jpg on the guy in the window. perhaps its just me.

Nice concept art you have there.

This is some Sph't art that I doodled in class.
Sorry to pick hairs, but why is the UESC Marathon logo on the S'pht?
