Ayup. Many a YASD by cockatrice, Minetown guard or floating eyeball. In my most successful game, I got down to Minetown and got owned by a cross-aligned unicorn. >.>

My favorite character is an elf ranger, what's yours? [MSmile]

edit: BTW I once made a Nethack/Marathon crossover where I depicted the events of M1 in NetHack style. It's here.

I'm still experimenting with the classes, etc. Not very far, only know the "Spoilers" that my dad told me about

(blanket + eyeball corpse, boulder game, praying/offering corpses, etc.)
. Right now I'm working on the wizard.
