What are your favorite fps games of all time?

What kind of place is this?!?!?!
Its just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. Then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns and also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?

I enjoyed the original when it was new (Did you know that it is available for the iPhone / iPod touch? Ported by John Carmack himself!), prefer Return to Castle Wolfestein, but not just because of the better graphics.Megabyte wrote:No one else likes Wolf3d?

Me Neither, I tend not to like games where you use a password for levels anyway.Soulblighter wrote:I didn't even think of wolfenstien. that was a great game!

The cake was a lie, until I ate it...
Just cause I like Windows and Microsoft doesn't make me any less of a Marathon fan!

Doom 1&2 (Great FPS games, put the F.P.S. genre on the map), Duke Nukem 3d (Funny, atmospheric, fun, What more can I say), Halo (Okay, exact story structure as marathon but simplified a bit still makes a good game, Great MP too.), Call of Duty 4 (Amazingly cinematic gameplay, great story, etc., my one gripe with it was that the environments tended to feel rather static because of a lack of physics objects ), Postal 2 (Hilarious and gory sandbox game that just had so many great little touches, also "I am the lizard king!") Marathon, (What can I say, it's marathon, Infinity was the best in my opinion.)

1. Halo - for having the most beautiful music and "filmmaking" I've seen in a game, and the most insanely in-depth multiplayer component of all time.
2. Marathon - for having the best story and most immersive storytelling method I've seen.
3. Ghost Recon - for being a game in which you can't take an entire clip from some guy's sub-machine gun, and then kill him.
4. Phantom Crash - for being the best mech game of all time.
5. Timesplitters 2 - for being awesome. And for having the only monkey character I don't consider irritating to look at.
6. GoldenEye (N64) - also for being awesome.
7. Turok: Rage Wars

On a related note, I finally got past the SiN Warehouse, and out to the waterworks part - This game is incredibly enjoyable, even if the storyline is a bit cheesy.

Ugh, Waterworks was a bit of a pain. I found thought, that there's usually two ways to exit a level and certain things you do or destroy in one level will affect another, in fact you can entirely skip levels depending on what you do (not the first game to do it, but still fun).Lh wrote:You would.

Haha, the cheesiness of the storyline is one of the reason's I like SiN. If you look on some of the walls in some of the building levels, you'll see silly notes ("Eduardo is Sinclair's bitch", "Orgy at 8:00 PM") and messages ("All truck drivers caught not on drugs will be FINED.") to other employees as well as numerous pop-culture references (they mention Bill Clinton a few times as well as Army of Darkness).

Not in any particular order (except for number one):
1.Halo series: The reason I play FPS games
2.Half-Life series: An FPS with an awesome story
3.Bioshock: Good story, cool powers, funny guns
4. Left 4 Dead: Zombah Killin Goodness
5. Call Of Duty series: Only other FPS I can think of: MW was not that bad
So that is it. I would like to mention that Crackdown and Lost Planet are great Third Person Shooters as well. Nothing like killin Giant Bugs with Mecha.

Yeah, it's a great game. My first game for my 360, if you don't count Call of Duty 2 (which came with it).
