Thanks. ^^ As of this post I'm about 80% done with the lineart (still got two sets of running frames and the death sequences to go).Tycho X wrote:but that armoured Pfhor Fighter looks swell. Like really, really good; I think it fits well with that whole 'Pfhor aesthetic'. Keep up the good work?

Re: Marathon Chronicles
It's pretty late so I don't have much advice to offer yet, but maybe TDMs could be explained later in the story? (Ex. they come up in conversation between Marcus and Yrro; the latter isn't too familiar with them, necessitating an explanation. This may also raise the question of whether or not Platin...

Re: Marathon Chronicles
Thanks for the feedback. That’s weird about the S’pht’Kr. Do you know what the offending polygon was, or its approximate number? I’m not even sure the S’pht’Kr should be wandering into the first AI room anyway; maybe I’ll just make that poly monster & item impassable. I think it's polygon 818, ...

The levels that I checked out (the first two, "Slaughterhouse One" and "The Dream's Dream", "Revisions of the Past", and "Return to Yggdrasill") all worked fine for me. Though there was a bit in "Take the Veil, Cerpin Taxt" where some red S'pht'Kr go...

Apparently, some maps in Quartz's "Fragments" used fake floating polygons to make bridges? The Man wrote:The other problem is of course that Marathon can’t actually do bridges properly and I’m having a difficult time finding a way for the player to surface that doesn’t look wrong.

Re: Marathon Chronicles
Having a foe who can teleport mid-combat would be really cool, but that behaviour isn’t currently programmed into A1. It’s probably possible to write it into Lua, but making it fun to fight such a foe might be a challenge. Maybe as long as Pharos/whoever else uses that gimmick doesn't do it too oft...

It’s interesting to think of Eternal in terms of post-9/11 America - it’s as though a lightbulb just went off in my head. I’ll have to keep that in mind the next time I read the terminals. Same here, and I have to wonder how this could impact Pharos's characterization/portrayal in Chronicles (I see...

Re: Marathon Chronicles
I think you're correct about the trilogy, but I don't remember ever saying anything about Pthia at all in Eternal unless it was just some quote or expansion thereupon of something Yrro said somewhere in his one terminal. What line(s) from Eternal are you thinking of, is what I'm asking. Ah. XD; Han...

Re: Marathon Chronicles
Where exactly in Eternal do I say anything about Pthia besides what's already said in M2/Infinity? Unless I missed something, the Trilogy doesn't actually specify Pthia's gender. (Though I wasn't thinking of the "my old Pthia" bit from Infinity when I wrote that post late last night...) P...

Yannow, why DIDN'T the original ship design include propulsion jets (or if it did, why they weren't larger)?

Don't think I've seen any other scenario going for that particular sort of stylized look.
(Psst--if you wanna do more with something like this but don't feel like you have the time to draw enemy and player character sprites, you could always go the "entirely puzzle/exploration-based" route)

The Man gave me the go-ahead to summarize some later discussions. Looking over those, a good bit of it has already been shown in this thread (mostly concept art), pretty much leaving something which could go into spoilers. So, under a spoiler it goes for now; hopefully should be okay. I have some re...
