We just need a like button so I can approve of the links to the various renditions. Good job. Feels good to listen to them all again.

Re: Official Unofficialmaps
The penguins and fish were fun, albeit un-interactive. Same for the ghosts. I think they should be a bit more aggressive in their haunting.
Didn't have a chance to try it in multiplayer, but looks like a good time.

Hit Detection
So I understand Marathon uses a cylinder to represent the hit detection. However, this leads to situations where the player can shoot at the transparent parts of the monster and still register a hit. Is there a technical reason why Bungie decided not to do a transparency check on the sprite to allow...

This is the first time of hearing of these two scenarios. Is there anything specifically notable besides their Japanese terminals that you could share?

Re: Physics and Shapes editing.
ShapesFusion can do physics work. Try that first before Physics Editor One, since that has given me bugged physics files in the past.
As far as the scaling, I don't know why, but you could pad the sprites to make them appear correctly. Or why not replace a different monster?

Re: 24-bit audio support
The music CDs you buy from the store are all 16-bit. Day-to-day, it doubtful one would hear the difference between 16-bit and 24-bit because there is limited 24-bit audio content available. This goes especially true for all of Marathon's content.

Re: Poop Ship Destroyer
It amuses me how many doors to nowhere there are on the Stage 9 map and the actual production set. Brings back memories of my time with role playing groups on Star Trek: Elite Force. Fun nostalgia. Despite using Quake 3, the maps we used were often not much more detailed than your layout. Labeling t...

It could be a monthly or twice monthly podcast discussing recent news, and rummaging through the archives for old levels to recommend and what makes them great.
Maybe highlight bugs that were fixed over the history of Aleph One. Cool features that few people know about.

For me, it was the stupid easy-to-use tools for the day. Draw a box? Make a map.RyokoTK wrote:In fairness, I don't understand why the fanbase likes this game either.
(Ok, technically you need at least 3 connected boxes.)
I still use it as a platform for practicing Lua programming now.

Would you post the mml? Hard to get a sense of what is going on without the files. Could be a syntax issue.

Re: Tutorial section suggestion
I feel it is better you just ask the question you are struggling with for the particular topic, and have that be the thread. I've also seen general threads where a person walks through their map creation process as they discover how to build switches etc. That keeps the discussion focused. I don't f...

Some .exe files can have their extension changed to .zip and then opened in an unzipping program to extract the files contained within.like, as in compressing it into a .zip or literally changing the extension?

Re: M2 .iso Bug
It might be possible to extract the Windows m2 files from the .iso. But I'm going to go on a limb and say that it isn't just the installer you'll have problems with. I believe the .exe for the patched trojen will also be 16-bit, and those are not compatible with x64 Windows. If you want to give thin...

Re: Three boss battles
Gave it a run through on normal. The Trooper needs to have its flinch disabled. Hitting it with a stream of bullets keeps it too occupied to fire off its salvo of missiles. However, I did enjoy the spread pattern. The grenades go everywhere, then try and converge on your location which gives it a co...
