Re: damn. This place is still alive

It's living, not dead
But it's not animated
It's on life support

O Bungie, please make that new Marathon game rumored in 2012 or whenever it was.

Re: M1 EMFH Shapes borked.

can anyone verify if this is indeed a problem? I tried it on a fresh OSX install. This is a problem still. If I load a multiplayer with the control + shift (command + option) level select with the default, included M1 Physics, it's fine. When I play actual multiplayer, it doesn't work. If it's the ...

I remember I had a problem like this. Honestly, I have no idea how I solved it. Did you check if port forwarding and all your other networking stuff is correctly set up? (Or is this a LAN game?)

Such progress. I love to see Aleph One can do all this. Looks just like Combat Evolved.
Also, I'd like to ask how you kept the dimensions of the map faithful to the original, if you did.

@Crater Creator: Thanks for the info.
@LegacyTyphoon: Yeah, Durandal is easier. And Infinity's timeline is... I'm not sure who enjoys it.
@treellama: Ah, I see now. Thanks.

M1A1 Special Edition

Just curious, as I downloaded M1A1SE once, but never played it.
What was special about them? What was improved?

Why doesn't Marathon Infinity (Aleph One) have HD Monsters?

^ Yeah, just wondering.

(What I meant: Freeverse graphics are included in Durandal, but not Infinity. Why?)
(Yeah, I forgot to include the verb "include.")

Re: Rambling about AI sentience and cyborg hardware

The shield part never made sense to me, given how when compared to other, explicitly shielded characters in game (such as the S'pht'Kr) the player bled when hit. Since the Security Officer clearly appeared to be wearing body armor, I figured the health bar in game was actually the player's health. ...

Re: Rambling about AI sentience and cyborg hardware

(More theories about the shield system. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who felt weird about it.) Two more theories about the shields to add to this list: 1. The shields only reduce impact and damage and doesn't completely block out damage, akin to shock absorbers. 2. The red "shield" is an...

Uh, not at the moment, I can't remember. I think there was a scrollbar tag, but not sure.

Doomsday's awesome port, but I prefer zDoom or Zandronum for portable play and for many online games (AoW2 mod's crazy).

Re: An assertion failure

There is in the original Marathon engine, but Aleph One removes this, as do the new tools such as Weland. It used to be that you could make up to 1024 polygons, but I've already exceeded that with no problems. Marathon Aeon actually uses thousands upon thousands of polygons, thus why it may bog dow...
