Re: Aleph One 1.4 preview 1
I tried 1.4 preview 2 and I'm having the same issues. As for the mouse sensitivity, selecting Classic doesn't restore the sensitivity from the previous versions I mentioned.

Re: Aleph One 1.4 preview 1
I'm having some pretty major issues since updating to the latest stable version, which I wanted to bring up here because I'm hoping they can be addressed in the next stable release. The first issue I'm having is that I can't replicate the same mouse sensitivity that existed in versions from 2007–201...

Vasara's help is also in the header. The top of the screen is a guide of sorts in and of itself. Also biased.

Re: Gathering a LAN (local) game?
Yes, joining by address is no guarantee it won't be over the internet. The IP address of the last host whose game you joined gets saved there, so if it's the same host again and you choose that option, the game might be over the internet instead of the LAN.

Re: Plugins that come with game files missing stuff
Is there a consensus on the best graphics plugins for each marathon game? I'm really not sure what to get Just download them all and see which one you like best. Compare them to the original graphics. My opinion: often times the original graphics without any plugin is best. I'd rather have professi...

Re: Vasara, a texturing plugin for Aleph One
Undo Tip: In Vasara's Visual Mode, press Mic+Primary Trigger to undo multiple steps, and Mic+Secondary Trigger to redo multiple steps. You can also flip back and forth with the single-step undo/redo by pressing Mic+Action (same as Visual Mode.lua).

Re: Vasara, a texturing plugin for Aleph One
You guys have got to try this out! Today's tip: because there is a key attached to each of the four modes, you can quickly reach any other mode with a single key-press, regardless of which mode you're currently in. And the Secondary Trigger is always there to take you back to Visual Mode. Oh, and Ha...

Re: M1A1 background texture enhancement?
The fastest way is to edit any plugin that uses landscape replacement by renaming your starscape image to whatever is specified in the mml, and then placing it where the mml specifies. You may have to edit the mml to specify the right collection, which you can view using ShapeFusion.

Yep. It's hard to convey what it's like to play an entire game within a few screenshots, so I'm not surprised they decided to cram more than what was actually there into a single screenshot.

Re: Marathon 1 VR (fan-made)
That Arrival video is awesome! While it may border on tech-demoish with the blaring lights, I think it'd be perfect for the beginning of a scenario where you're just coming out of stasis with a mean cold-sleep hangover. Anyway, it does a good job of conveying what is possible. Keep up the great work!

Re: Wonky joypad support in A1
Plug in any controller and just use JoyToKey . On top of being able to map any key to any button, you can also map the mouse to an analogue stick and fine-tune the sensitivity from within JoyToKey. You can even assign different key combinations based on analogue input level. So if you wanted, you co...

Re: Is there a campaign telling the events of the colony?
Like most scenario ideas this idea requires better technology. The main part of any Tau Ceti game would have to be the enslavement and experimentation. Humans beings being pushed onto dropships, families being separated, human beings being fed Pfhor feces just so the Pfhor can find out how long a h...

I skimmed through these, and there's some good work here. I think you're under-valuing what you've done. And if you're going to compare yourself to Ryoko, do it for the sake of improvement. You won't get far in anything if you beat yourself up for not being as good as the best when you're still a be...

Count the devs from each community and compare. There's probably a good reason.EinhanderZwei wrote:I really want to get into Aleph One modding, since Marathon trilogy is my all-time favorite gaming franchise, but so far it seems so hostile towards me compared to id Tech engines and their derivatives!
